After rainy weather and utility issues caused significant delays this summer on an extensive construction project in downtown Regina, Saskatchewan, town officials recently stated they will plan to keep working through out the winter. The announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise, as the original plan was to reopen the street for the colder months, the Regina Leader-Post reports. With the harsh Canadian winter approaching, construction crews will benefit from outdoor infrared heat as they work into the season. The City Square project manager Denise Donahue said that many citizens wanted the street open, and having warm and comfortable workers will make it possible for them to get the job done more quickly. “We’re trying to allow the crews to work during this time and catch up on some of the time we lost this summer due to rain and utility delays,” Donahue told the news source. Infrared heat also offers environmental benefits as it is an energy efficient way to keep warm. Electrically powered infrared heaters typically radiate up to 86 percent of their input as radiant energy. |
